The verb ‘mettre’ in present tense

second person singular + informal form of address

tu mets = you put

Tu mets toujours la même chemise. You put on the same shirt all the time.

third person singular + masculine

il met = he puts

Il met sa casquette. He puts on his cap.

third person singular + feminine

elle met = she puts

Elle met de la musique douce. She puts on soft music.

first person plural

nous mettons = we put

Nous mettons les assiettes sur la table. We put the plates on the table.

second person plural second person singular + respectful form of address

vous mettez = you put

Si vous mettez ce pull... If you put on this sweater...

third person plural + masculine

ils mettent = they put

Ils mettent leurs manteaux. They put on their coats.

third person plural + feminine

elles mettent = they put

Elles mettent du rouge à lèvres. They put on lipstick.
