first person singular

je dormais = I was sleeping, I used to sleep

Je dormais près de la fenêtre. I was sleeping near the window.

second person singular + informal form of address

tu dormais = you were sleeping, you used to sleep

Tu dormais pendant le film. You were sleeping during the movie.

third person singular + masculine

il dormait = he was sleeping, he used to sleep

Il dormait sur le canapé. He was sleeping on the couch.

third person singular + feminine

elle dormait = she was sleeping, she used to sleep

Elle dormait tout le matin. She was sleeping all morning.

first person plural

nous dormions = we were sleeping, we used to sleep

Nous dormions peu à cause du bruit. We were sleeping little because of the noise.

second person plural second person singular + respectful form of address

vous dormiez = you were sleeping, you used to sleep

Vous dormiez à l’hôtel. You were sleeping at the hotel.

third person plural + masculine

ils dormaient = they were sleeping, they used to sleep

Ils dormaient ensemble dans une chambre. They were sleeping together in one room.

third person plural + feminine

elles dormaient = they were sleeping, they used to sleep

Elles dormaient quand je suis arrivé. They were sleeping when I arrived.
