How do you ask in Irish where somebody is from? There are many slightly different ways to phrase this question, depending on which dialect you’re speaking. Here are the two most common options.
Cá as duit?
Where are you from?
Cá as tú?
Where are you from?
To answer that question, you can simply say the name of the place, or if you prefer a full sentence, there are again many different ways to phrase that but these options are the most common.
As Corcaigh.
From Cork.
Is as Corcaigh dom.
I am from Cork.
Is as Corcaigh mé.
I am from Cork.
Finally, to return the question, the easiest way is to add féin.
