je suis = I am

Je suis très occupé aujourd’hui. I am very busy today.

second person singular + informal form of address

tu es = you are

Tu es toujours à l’heure. You are always on time.

third person singular + masculine

il est = he is

Il est professeur de maths. He is a math teacher.

third person singular + feminine

elle est = she is

Elle est très gentille. She is very kind.

first person plural

nous sommes = we are

Nous sommes en vacances. We are on vacation.

second person plural second person singular + respectful form of address

vous êtes = you are

Vous êtes prêts à partir. You are ready to leave.

third person plural + masculine

ils sont = they are

Ils sont très sportifs. They are very athletic.

third person plural + feminine

elles sont = they are

Elles sont dans le jardin. They are in the garden.
