first person singular

je parlais = I was speaking, I used to speak

Je parlais avec mes voisins. I was speaking with my neighbors.

second person singular + informal form of address

tu parlais = you were speaking, you used to speak

Tu parlais souvent de tes rêves. You used to speak often about your dreams.

third person singular + masculine

il parlait = he was speaking, he used to speak

Il parlait doucement. He was speaking softly.

third person singular + feminine

elle parlait = she was speaking, she used to speak

Elle parlait toute la nuit. She was speaking all night.

first person plural

nous parlions = we were speaking, we used to speak

Nous parlions de voyages. We used to speak about travel.

second person plural second person singular + respectful form of address

vous parliez = you were speaking, you used to speak

Vous parliez à tout le monde. You were speaking to everyone.

third person plural + masculine

ils parlaient = they were speaking, they used to speak

Ils parlaient en espagnol. They were speaking in Spanish.

third person plural + feminine

elles parlaient = they were speaking, they used to speak

Elles parlaient de leurs projets. They used to speak about their plans.
