nous avions = we had

second person plural second person singular + respectful form of address

vous aviez = you had

Vous aviez une chance incroyable. You had incredible luck.

third person plural + masculine

ils avaient = they had

Ils avaient une grande maison. They had a big house.

third person plural + feminine

elles avaient = they had

Elles avaient des questions. They had some questions.
